"OK some ideas on bike speed.
Joe Soap average tourist lap starts at 10 to 12 mins. 12 is a bit slow, but 10 to 10.30 is very common.
9.45 is speedier tourist.
8.15 - 8 30 is about as fast as semi regular tourists get. Below this the numbers are getting rather small. The true numbers that is, VAT seems to disappear from lap times with curious regularity.
Regulars doing 8 min btg. Two dozen??? If we sat all stared at Nordschleifenbilder.de all day Nige, you'd recognise the majority of bikes.
7.30 - 7.40 BTG, repeatable, no ragged edge stuff. Hmm rather short list. And the list would be padded out with those who no longer ride, or ride that fast.
7.20 something. Me, Tim Roethig (the ex IDM and Bridgestone test rider), Ghostrider I think (Ex Swedish superbike and Dunlop sponsored guy)
7.teens. Me. And.... ummm. This, down to 7.10 area is repeatable to include mirror checks and surface scanning, have one or two traces that suggested it was do-able, but nothing over a complete lap. I'm allergic to cameras y'see - something always goes wrong with them. The above could I think, but its a question of risk/reward. The BMW courses cater to wobblers too intimidated to ride at other times. 8 mins is incomprehensible to the client base, so why introduce more risk. Roethig is uncertain perhaps from being on an unfamilair bike for the gyrocam
lap.
7. zero-something. Me, but I have to Juanjo it. I have a suspicion (but nothing more) that this pace has been run several times. It not a one off, dry, fresh tyres, and everyone else not there and its entirely repeatable. A bit less weight, a bit more power, a few chassis tweaks and some Weetabix and...
6.50.... ooer. It should. But. Currently I have permission to ride fast, provided its not on the track.... or permission to go fast, but not on a bike. And doing 7.10 through traffic probably made that permission less likely not more. There are no bike track days - DSK is lead follow. Mottorad wont answer emails. Doc Scholl, well maybe but its unlikley. Private track hire? See above catch 22. Not to mention the money. I pool won't. Tf it is then; 8 anything is a bit swift for some of TF. 7 high needs it to be quiet really. 7 low is often not possible regardless of risk due to traffic. 6 high would require very rare circumstances indeed. Oh and if I get even one 6.59.9, that's enough."
PS. Að "Juanjo-a" er að taka bestu parta úr nokkrum hringjum og búa til theoretical besta hring.
