Hér er helv. gott trip report af Northloop - sá sem skrifar er sonur
Ken sem við Sveinki leigjum skúrinn af við hringinn.

================================================

We left on the Friday, RyanAir'd it to Hahn then sweet talked the Avis lass into giving us a Renault Laguna Estate...

We headed to Quiddlebach to meet up with Dad (www.nurburgmotorsport.com) who gave us our tickets for the weekend!!!

Image

These were going to make the weekend very very special and get us a front row seat on the weekends action.

Straight to the Supermarket for beer, disposable BBQ's, meat and bread... Oh and 3 banana's to help us with our 5-a-day!!!

Image

Image

Back to Dads house then he kindly dropped us off at Brunnchen for our first night..

This usally desolate place had been turned into some kind of Nomadic camp.. People from all over Europe had descended on Nurburg and brought everything including the kitchen sink..

Image

Many had erected scaffolding, to make a vantage point and try to out-do their neighbours.. The music changed from each encampment and I have to say the atmosphere was amazing!!

Image

We walked as far as we could (with a crate of 30beers, load of meat and a BBQ) which took us as far as Hedwigshohe and we decided to have our bbq here..

After finding a space at the fence we cracked open the bbq and realised that we were in an encampment of Germans dressed in the PJ's.

Image

They were a great laugh and we had a bit of banter, fired up the bbq and drank!!

Image
Can anyone spot the mistake we made with the bbq?

Image
Me, Cheif chef!!!

Image
Beautiful!!!

Image
Ahhhh.. You have to take it out of the carboard thing to let the air in!!!!!

Image
No sauce just marinate it in beer!!

Image
Rolty met a nice marshall after scaling the fence in true Spiderman style!!

Image
Beer & uneven ground..Never a good combo..

By this time we were getting fairly "well oiled" and the FHM game of one of you shake your face and the other hold the hand to their face, then take a photo commenced with blinding results!!

Image
Image
Image
Image

The music was pumping to some crazy Euro Rave Techno stuff!!

Image
Image

We continued our party with the PJ wearing Germans and then had to make our way back to Brunchenn to meet Dad who was going to give us a lift back to his..

On the way back, more wierdness..

Image
Image

Bish pulled..

Image

Brunchenn was alive! (btw, no flash, f2.8, iso 3200, lashed)
Image
Image
Image

So it was off to the pits for a look.. We had got full access and were right in the thick of it.. Watching the teams patch up the toll the Qualifying had done to the cars.. It was going to be a long night for some of the teams..

Again the atmosphere was amazing..

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Bumped into Sabine who had just arrived back in the pits after a few laps.
Dad & Sabine

Image

Some of the cars were being worked on through the night
Image

Some had been put to bed, ready for tommorrow

Saturday

We parked the car at the rear of the BMW Motorsport place, after asking a lovely Policewomen (with lovely nice eyes eh bish) if it was ok and left to head to the pits to watch the start of the race..

Image
Nurburg was buzzing

Image
Dad wanted to start the race!!

We walked through the garages to see some of the teams
Image
Image

Mr Colhouse's beautiful RS4
Image

We then walked to the grid to soak up the atmosphere and do some bird watching.

Team Lexus
Image

Image

Our new favourite team.. Livestrip Racing
Image
Image

With no cars left in the Garages they started throwing everybody out for the start!
Image
Image
Image

We managed to secure a spot on the PitLane to watch the start of the race.

Image
Image

Image

First lap and the Manthey Porsche came in with a problem

Image
Image

There was nearly a problem when the next group came through and a Civic did a spot of offroading

Image
Image
Image
Image

More injuries.. Flat tyre and fire in the rear!

Image

Gumpert being brought in
Image

After being here for a while we decided to head off to Breischeide for a bit.. We picked the car up and it was here things didn't go to plan...

To cut a long story, our car had been taken by the police after I parked the wrong way on the street!!!

105 Euros later we were back on the road and had to laugh!!

Back to another Nomadic encampment for a spot of viewing..

Image
Image

Mini was going well

Image

The Evening

The plan was to park at Quiddlebach Hohe and then walk to Flugplatz and drink.. Then to Hatzenbach have a bbq and then walk to the Pits for some night action and then kip in the car..

Image
Ready for stage 1

Image
No longer abandoned!

Image
Thats a tough walk with a crate of beers!!

We sat down and started to drink and watched some of the racing.. No telephoto taken with me..

Image
Image
Image

After drinking some of the beer we then headed off to Hatzenbach for part 2!

Image
It seemed Hatzenbach was another hardcore area for campers!

Had another well done BBQ !

Image
Image
Image

Image
Scaletrix anyone??

Image

After eating more meat and drinking more beer, we continued through Hatzenbach up to T13 and fell on this place..

Image

You can imagine what came on stage but i didn't take any photos!!

After watching the show we continued up to the Pits and went into the Cafe for a doughnut?!

Image
Image
Image
Image

It was then into the pits to watch some of the cars coming in..

The mood changed from garage to garage.. Some teams slept whilst their cars were out and obviously ok while some were running round trying to patch up the car that had come in after being in an incident..

Image

Image

Another broken one.
Image
Image
Image

While the driver has to explain to the TV
Image

Image
Scirroco's going well

We stayed into the early hours then fortunately got dropped back at Dads house to sleep in a bed rather than the Laguna!!

Sunday

We made sure the car was still where we left it (which it was.. I couldn't be doing with another run in with the local plod) and then went to Hatzenbach for a look in the daylight.

Image
Image
Image

Picking up the car we decided to head to the main carpark and watch the cars on full chat!

Image
Image

It was then a quick visit to PF1 then back to the pits to watch the end of the race..

Image

We're stood there and then realise Heinz-Harald Frentzen wandering about.. We're in the Gumpert's garage!!

Image

Dad gives him some advice about his lines!!!

Image

and then it arrives..

Image

Image
Image
Exhausts are hot!!

Image

Image
It leaves extrememly quietly... We then realise its one of the Hybrid cars and then the engine fires up and off!!!!

Image
10mins left, we find a space of the pit wall to watch

Image
Rolty's spider skills come in useful again!!!

Image
59seconds...

Image
They line up for a photo finish!!

Image
Mini completes the 24hr

Image
The winner completing 147laps in 24hrs

Image
Team VW

Image
Image
Sabine and team come in 3rd

Champagne
Image

1st 2nd 3rd
Image

We managed to walk through Park Ferme on our way back to car and saw the rest of the cars that finished

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Which left 1 quick photo on T13 before we left

Image

Made our way back to Adenau for a Chinese and then back to Hahn for our flight home..

I couldn't believe how quickly Nurburg became deserted.. Most of the campers had left by Sunday afternoon and everyone sorted out their rubbish into recyclables, waste etc and no rubbish was left in the campsites..

Great weekend with great people!!

Roll on 2009 :D

Það er smá óánægja í gangi með að verið er að bösta menn fyrir að
drifta á hringnum og vísa þeim frá í dagsbann.

Menn eru hér með mögulegar "lausnir"

Það þarf s.s. ekkert að koma mönnum á óvart. Það er almennt bannað að drifta á þýskum þjóðvegum.

það sem er að koma mönnum á óvart er að það sé farið að taka strangar á því. Líklega er eitthvað verið að reyna að lækka slysatíðni, beiðni frá lögreglu eða álíka. þetta er sambærilegt við hávaðatakmörkunina. Þeir gera ekkert í því nema menn séu að þennja á bílastæðinu eða við hliðið, líklega útaf því að þar er fylgst með því að brautarstarfsmenn mæli.
